Pakistan-Backed Terrorist Aamir Nazir Wani Neutralized in Joint Operation by Indian Security Forces in South Kashmir

Tral, Pulwama (J&K) — In a significant blow to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, a wanted terrorist affiliated with the proscribed outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Aamir Nazir Wani, was neutralized by Indian security forces in a joint anti-terror operation carried out by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police in Tral, Pulwama district.

According to officials, Wani, a resident of the Tral region, had long been on the radar of security agencies due to his active involvement in several terror-related incidents in South Kashmir. Intelligence inputs confirmed his association with JeM, a Pakistan-based terror organization responsible for multiple attacks on Indian soil.

In a dramatic turn during the encounter, Wani reportedly made a final phone call to his family before being eliminated by the security forces. This moment, though brief, underscores the complex human dimensions that exist amid ongoing counterterror operations.

The operation was launched based on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the area. Security forces successfully cordoned off the suspected location and, after a brief exchange of fire, neutralized the threat. No casualties were reported among the forces.

Senior officials lauded the precision and professionalism of the security personnel involved. They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region and reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism.

The elimination of Aamir Nazir Wani is seen as a strategic success, as he played a key role in recruiting local youth into terror ranks and orchestrating attacks under the guidance of cross-border handlers.

Local authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies to prevent any resurgence of militant activities.
